Domailfix docs

Everything you need to verify emails, read the Email X-ray, find work emails and connect Domailfix to your tools. Pick a topic or search.

Getting started

Domailfix tells you whether an email address is real before you send, and finds a person's work email from their name and company website. Every result comes with an Email X-ray and a confidence score from 0 to 100.

  1. Try it without an account. You get 10 free checks on the home page.
  2. Create a free account at sign up with your work email, or with Google. A free account gets 100 free credits every month.
  3. Open your account. Everything is in the menu on the left: verify an email, verify a list, find an email, email format, phone check and domain search.
  4. Buy credits when you need more. Pay once, in rupees or US dollars. There is no subscription, and bought credits never expire.

New accounts need a work email address. Personal addresses such as Gmail or Yahoo cannot sign up, which keeps free credits for real businesses.

Verify an email

  1. Open Verify an email in your account, or use the box on the home page.
  2. Type or paste one address and click Verify.
  3. Read the result, the confidence score and the Email X-ray.

No email is ever sent to the address you check, so the person is never contacted.

What the results mean

  • Deliverable: the address is real and can receive email. Safe to send.
  • Likely valid: very likely real, but it cannot be fully proven, usually because the company accepts every address. Usually fine to send.
  • Risky: it may work but cannot be confirmed, or it is a shared team inbox, a throwaway address or a spam trap. Send with care.
  • Undeliverable: the address does not exist or cannot receive email. Remove it.
  • Unknown: no clear answer this time. You are not charged, and Domailfix asks again in the background and updates the result if an answer comes.

The confidence score

A number from 0 to 100 that shows how sure Domailfix is. Above 80 is a strong answer, 50 to 80 is likely but not proven, and below 50 means take care before you send.

Typos

If an address looks like a typo, such as gmial.com, Domailfix suggests the right one ("Did you mean gmail.com?"). Click the suggestion to check it.

Reading the Email X-ray

The Email X-ray shows why an address got its result. It splits the address into two halves and lists what was found about each:

  • The person (before the @): is it a personal address or a shared team inbox, does it follow the company's email format, does the person still work there (when a public profile shows it), and has email to it been delivered or bounced before.
  • The company (after the @): does the domain exist and receive email, which email service it uses, whether it accepts every address (catch-all), and how it has answered before.

Green points are good signs, amber points mean take care, and red points are reasons not to send.

Show all signals

Click Show all signals under a result for the full checklist: format, domain, mailbox, accept-all, at the company, risk and how the answer was reached.

Read more in What is an Email X-ray?.

Verify a list (bulk)

  1. Open Verify a list in your account.
  2. Drop a CSV or TXT file (up to 50,000 addresses and 20 MB), or paste addresses, one per line. Domailfix finds the email addresses in the file by itself, whatever the column is called.
  3. Click Verify list. You can keep working while it runs.
  4. See the list health score (0 to 100) and how many addresses are deliverable, undeliverable, risky and unknown. Click a tile to filter the table.
  5. Click Download CSV for a result on every row.
  • Duplicates are checked once.
  • Unknown results are free. Domailfix asks again in the background and updates the results by itself.
  • Your list is deleted from our server about two hours after the job finishes. Download your results before then.

Clean lists inside your email tools too: open Clean lists in your tools in your account to check lists in Mailchimp, Brevo, Instantly and others. Choose Every month or Every 3 months to have Domailfix check the list again by itself and email you the results (contacts go bad as people change jobs). Your API key is then kept encrypted, and deleted when you delete the automatic check.

Instant checks of new contacts

On an automatic check, click Instant checks on. You get a webhook address. Add it in your tool so it tells Domailfix about every new contact:

  • Mailchimp: Audience → Settings → Webhooks. Paste the address and tick Subscribes.
  • Brevo: Contacts → Settings → Webhooks, event Contact added to list.
  • HubSpot: a workflow with the Send a webhook action.
  • Any other tool: send a POST with the email address in it (JSON or form).

Each new contact is checked within a minute (1 credit, Unknown free) and, if you chose to mark bad contacts, a bad one is marked in your tool straight away. Click Instant checks off to stop; the address then stops working.

Enrich a list

Upload a CSV and get the same file back with a verified work email and company columns added. Your own columns stay as they are.

  1. Open Enrich a list in your account.
  2. Choose your CSV (or paste it) and give the list a name.
  3. Click Enrich the list. Download the file when it is ready.

What each row needs:

  • An Email column: the email is verified and its company is added.
  • Name and Website columns (or First name and Last name): the work email is found and the company is added.
  • Only a Website column: the company columns are added.

The added columns are: Verified email, Email status, Email score, Company, Industry, City, Country, Founded, Team size, Hiring, Open jobs, Email service, Accepts every address, Email format, Technologies, Company phone and Company LinkedIn. Only company information is added, never a person's phone number or personal details.

Cost

Verify 1 credit per email, find as in Find email (not found is free), and company columns 1 credit per company whose website could be read. Credits are set aside when the list starts and given back for anything that gets no answer. Up to 1,000 rows (500 people to find) at a time. The file is deleted from our server 2 hours after it is ready.

Developers: the same is available as POST /api/enrich, and the company of one work email as GET /api/company?email=. See the API docs.

Workflows

Ready-made automations. Open Workflows in your account, pick one, fill in a few boxes and click Turn on this workflow. Messages go to Slack (connect it under Webhooks and Slack) and by email.

  • Hiring alert to leads: when a company in a watched target list posts new jobs, Domailfix finds the work emails of the people you listed at that company (a CSV with Name and Website) and, if you choose, adds them to your Smartlead, Instantly or lemlist campaign. Each person is searched once.
  • Weekly fresh leads: every Monday morning, the companies in a target list with a fit score at or above the level you set, with their team emails and email format, and the work emails of any people you listed for them. Companies already sent are not sent again.
  • Clean every new signup: works with an automatic check that has Instant checks on. Every new contact is checked at once, bad ones are marked in your tool, and the risky and undeliverable ones are posted to Slack.
  • Low credit warning: an email and a Slack message when your credits fall below the level you set, once each time they drop.
  • Before every campaign: on a day of the month you choose (at 9 am India time), Domailfix re-checks a whole Smartlead, Instantly or lemlist campaign and blocks the bad contacts there, before your next send.
  • CRM hygiene: on a day of the month you choose, every contact in HubSpot, Pipedrive or Zoho CRM is verified and the result is saved on the contact (HubSpot and Zoho CRM: a field called Domailfix email status, made the first time).
  • New lead to enriched lead: you get a private address. Send each new lead from your website form to it (Webflow, WordPress forms, Typeform, Tally, or any form through Zapier or Make, as a POST with the email in it). The email is verified, the company is added, and the lead is posted to Slack and to your own webhook.

Cost

A workflow uses the same credits as doing the steps by hand: finding an email as in Find email (not found is free), checking a contact 1 credit (Unknown is free), company details 1 credit when the website can be read. The workflow itself is free. When credits run out, the workflow stops and tells you.

Domailfix never looks people up for you: it only finds the work emails of the people you list.

Webhooks and Slack alerts

Get told in Slack, or in your own system, when something finishes or changes. No Zapier needed.

  1. Open Webhooks and Slack in your account.
  2. Slack: in Slack, open Apps → Incoming Webhooks → Add to Slack, pick a channel and copy the address. Paste it and click Save.
  3. Your own system (optional): paste an https address. Domailfix sends it a JSON POST.
  4. Tick what you want to hear about and click Send a test.

You can be told when a list check finishes, a list of people has been searched, an enriched list is ready, an automatic check finished or could not run, a new contact was checked (instant checks), and when a company you watch changes.

For developers

Each POST has a JSON body with event, created and data, and the header X-Domailfix-Signature: sha256=…, an HMAC-SHA256 of the body with your signing secret (shown under Signing secret). If your address keeps failing, sending is paused and your account page says so; fix it and click Turn sending on again.

Find a work email

  1. Open Find an email in your account.
  2. Type the person's full name and their company website (for example acme.com).
  3. Click Find email.

You get one of these answers:

  • Found: a confirmed address. Uses 2 credits.
  • Likely valid: very likely the right address, clearly marked as an estimate. Uses 1 credit.
  • Risky: the company accepts every address, so nothing can be confirmed. You get the most likely address for the name. Send with care. Uses 1 credit.
  • Unknown: the company's email system gave no answer this time. You still get the most likely address, unchecked. Free.
  • Not found: no address could be found. Free.
  • No longer at the company: when public proof shows the person has left, Domailfix says so and shows the proof. Uses 2 credits, because it answers your question.

Many people at once

Open Find emails for a whole list and upload a CSV of up to 500 people, with each person's name and company website. Download the results as a CSV.

Email format and domain search

Email format

Enter a company name or website to see how its people's addresses are written, for example first.last@acme.com, with how often each format is used and an example. Uses half a credit, and nothing when no format is found.

Domain search

Enter a company website to see its email format, whether it accepts every address, its email service, and the team emails, phone numbers (marked mobile, landline or toll-free) and social pages the company publishes on its own website, each with its source. You also get a short company profile read from its website: what it does, its industry, city and country, the year it was founded, its team size, the technologies it uses and its open jobs. Uses 1 credit when something is found, and nothing otherwise.

Target accounts

Build lists of the companies you want to sell to, and see at a glance which ones fit you best.

  1. Open Target accounts in your account.
  2. Paste company websites (one per line) or upload a CSV, give the list a name, and choose Read these companies.
  3. Domailfix builds a profile of each company: what it does, its industry, location, founded year, team size, open jobs, technologies, email service, catch-all status, email format, phone numbers, team emails and social pages.

Fit score

Under Your ideal customer, choose the industries, locations, words, technologies and email service you sell to, and whether the company should be hiring. Every company gets a fit score from 0 to 100, with the reasons, and the best fits are shown first.

Watch and signals

Turn on Watch weekly for a list. Every week Domailfix reads those websites again and shows what changed: new jobs, a new phone number or team email, a new email service, new or removed technologies. You get one email a week with the new signals.

Cost

1 credit per company whose website could be read. A website that cannot be opened is free, and the weekly re-checks are free (up to 500 watched companies). Download any list as a CSV.

Only company information is collected, from the company's own website. No person's data is read or stored.

Phone check

  1. Open Phone check in your account, or the phone number validator.
  2. Enter a number with its country code, or pick the country. Paste many numbers to check a list.

You see whether the number is valid, its type (mobile, landline, toll-free and so on), its country and region, and the network it was first given to. Uses 1 credit per number.

A phone check does not call or message the number, and it cannot tell whether a phone is switched on or where a person is.

Credits and payments

What uses credits

  • Verify an email: 1 credit. Unknown is free.
  • Find an email: 2 credits when found, 1 for likely valid or risky. Unknown and not found are free.
  • Email format: half a credit. Nothing found is free.
  • Domain search: 1 credit when something is found.
  • Target accounts: 1 credit per company whose website could be read. Weekly re-checks are free.
  • Enrich a list: verify 1 credit per email, find as Find email, 1 credit per company whose website could be read. Unused credits come back.
  • Company lookup (API): 1 credit per company whose website could be read.
  • Instant checks: 1 credit per new contact. Unknown is free.
  • Webhooks and Slack alerts: free.
  • Workflows: free; the steps they do use the usual credits.
  • Automatic list re-checks: 1 credit per contact each time, like checking the list by hand. Unknown is free.
  • Phone check: 1 credit per number.

Free credits

A free account gets 100 free credits every month. At the start of each month they are filled back up to 100; unused free credits do not add up.

Buying credits

Open Buy credits in your account, slide to the number of credits you need, and pay once in rupees or US dollars. The more you buy, the more you save. Bought credits never expire. Need more than 1,000,000 credits? Contact us for custom pricing.

Receipts and invoices

After every purchase you get a receipt by email with a link to your invoice. All invoices are under Payments and invoices in your account. Add your company name, billing address and tax ID there to show them on invoices. See the Refund Policy.

Chrome extension

  1. Open the Chrome extension page and click Add to Chrome.
  2. Pin the Domailfix icon from Chrome's puzzle-piece menu.
  3. Click the icon and choose Sign in with Domailfix, then Allow. No API key to copy.
  • Verify any address from the popup, or right-click an email on any page and choose Verify with Domailfix.
  • Find email: on a company's website the domain is filled in for you. On a profile page you open yourself, the name and current company are filled in when you click the icon. Type a company's website once and it is remembered.
  • Saved: every result is kept on your computer. Click Save to CSV to download them.

Check recipients in Gmail and Outlook

Click the extension's settings and switch on Gmail and Outlook, then click Allow. While you write an email in Gmail or Outlook on the web, a small label next to Send shows whether each To, Cc and Bcc address is good. If one does not exist, Domailfix asks before the email goes: Fix the addresses or Send anyway. Only the addresses are checked, never the subject or the message, and Domailfix never sends anything. 1 credit per new address (Unknown is free); each answer is remembered on your computer for 14 days. Switch it off at any time.

Apart from this optional checker, the extension only works when you click its icon, and never adds anything to the pages you visit.

Integrations and AI apps

Use Domailfix inside the tools you already use. Step-by-step guides for each are on the Integrations page:

  • Automation: Zapier, Make, n8n, Pabbly Connect.
  • CRM: HubSpot, Zoho CRM, Salesforce.
  • Spreadsheets and databases: Google Sheets, Airtable.
  • Email tools: Mailchimp, Brevo, Instantly and others, from Clean lists in your tools in your account.
  • Websites: WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Wix, Squarespace, with the website form widget.
  • AI assistants: add Domailfix to Claude, ChatGPT or Gemini, then ask in plain words, for example "Verify priya@acme.com".

API

Use the REST API from your own software. Every check uses the same credits as the website.

  1. Create an API key under API key in your account.
  2. Send it with every request as the header X-API-Key, or as Authorization: Bearer followed by the key.
  3. Check that it works:
curl 'https://domailfix.com/api/key-check' -H 'X-API-Key: YOUR_KEY'

Verify one address:

curl 'https://domailfix.com/api/verify?email=priya@acme.com' -H 'X-API-Key: YOUR_KEY'

Main endpoints: verify one email, verify a list in the background, find an email (one or many), email format, domain search and phone checks. The full reference, with every field and example answers, is in the API docs.

Keep your API key secret. If it leaks, create a new one in your account: the old key stops working at once.

Website form widget

Stop fake and mistyped emails on your website's sign-up, contact and checkout forms.

  1. Open Website form widget in your account.
  2. Add your website addresses and copy the one line of code.
  3. Paste it into your website, just before the closing body tag. Guides for WordPress, Shopify, Webflow, Wix and Squarespace are on the Integrations page.

The widget checks the email address people type into your forms and asks them to fix it when it is not real. Each check uses 1 credit.

Account, data and privacy

  • Profile and settings: change your photo, name, company, password and invoice details.
  • Check history: every email you checked or found in the last 90 days.
  • Sending results: tell Domailfix which emails bounced or were delivered when you sent your campaign. It makes results more accurate for everyone.
  • Connected apps: see and disconnect apps you signed in to with Domailfix, such as the Chrome extension or Claude.
  • Download or delete your data: from Profile and settings. Deleting your account removes your details and credit history, except invoices the law requires us to keep.

Domailfix never sends a message to the addresses you check and never sells data. Read the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
